David Foster Wallace once suggested that the big nerve-destroying, depression-making Thing about postmodern life is that we’re expected to parse something like 500,000 pieces of discrete information every single day. That seems distressingly accurate, and as I understand it, getting involved with the Tumblr community doubles or triples Wallace’s projected number — it’s the Katamari Damacy of blog communities, accumulating picture after video after song after sarcastic criticism in a giant, planet-sized, importance-leveling ball of inanity. All of this is to say that, as an addiction-prone young man with work to do, I enter this project with reservations. However, I’m also interested enough to be here, interested enough to see what this thing develops into, interested in seeing what good can come of this. So, hello. Here’s a song my friend Eli from the Pacific Northwestern band Lake did.
